Hello friends! Sharing for your reading entertainment (and consideration for development) an original screenplay written by my husband, David Eugene Ray, all about the life and legend of Snoozer Quinn. This is a historical fictional account of events in Snoozer’s life. It follows his life story and career arc faithfully, staying true to the people he met along the way.
You’ll encounter musical greats such as Louis Armstrong, Peck Kelley, Paul Whiteman, and all those early jazz greats associated with Snoozer. There are colorful characters such as tent show performers, the Maceo brothers (mobsters from Galveston), Ziegfeld Follies beauties, New York major Jimmy Walker, and Jimmie Davis and the Rice Brothers, hot on the political trail for the singing governor. And of course, you’ll meet the people from Bogalusa and New Orleans who were captivated by Snoozer’s music — and who loved him in his lifetime.
Dave has created an entertaining, adventurous biopic of Snoozer’s story, filled with musical moments and the emotional highs and lows of a career of a jazz pioneer working in the 1910s-1940s. Set against the backdrop of pivotal American events such as Prohibition and the Great Depression, and exploring in vivid detail Snoozer’s journey from the small churches of a Louisiana sawmill town to the King of Jazz’s big stage in New York City, this story will endear Snoozer Quinn to its viewers.
